Artificial intelligence in the Olympic Games

Intel will deploy artificial intelligence during the 2024 Paris Olympics to improve the overall experience for all visitors. One of Intel's AI applications is an interactive fan experience that guides them through the process of becoming an Olympic participant. Intel® Gaudi® and Intel® Xeon® processors with an artificial intelligence accelerator and tuned with Intel OpenVINO™ assess each participant's profile and link it to an Olympic sport.

Broadcasting the Olympic Games

The 2024 Olympics will be the first event to use Intel Xeon processors to provide an 8K live streaming experience. Broadcast servers use Intel Xeon Scalable processors with Intel® AI Deep Learning Boost technology to encode and compress a live signal at 8K resolution in only a few milliseconds. This 8K signal is then transmitted to Intel-based computers and laptops that are linked to 8K TVs in specific locations throughout the world. This live streaming process is done in very high definition and with very minimal latency, giving spectators an outstanding quality experience.

In addition, Intel is boosting universal accessibility for the visually handicapped by using Intel Xeon-based 3D models and artificial intelligence. These vehicles offer interior and voice navigation via a smartphone app.

With these innovations, Intel has elevated the Olympic Games experience to new levels and informed fans all over the world about this historic sporting event in ways never before seen. In this way, Intel and the International Olympic Committee intend to collaborate to develop an exciting future for the Olympic Games.
