While Tesla's Optimus robot has been making waves, a powerful new contender named Figure AI has captured everyone's attention with the unveiling of its latest achievement: Figure 03. Known as the third-generation robot from this company, it is designed for entry into homes and workplaces, aiming to redefine what we expect from a versatile robot.
What is Figure 03?
Figure 03 is an advanced humanoid robot developed by the American company Figure AI, based in California. Founded by leading robotics and AI experts and backed by massive investments from tech giants like Microsoft, NVIDIA, Amazon, and OpenAI, the company is rapidly becoming a pioneer in the industry.
The primary goal of Figure 03 is to perform everyday and complex tasks in human environments—from homes to factories and warehouses. This robot is designed to learn directly from humans and interact with unpredictable settings.

Helix: The Brain Behind Figure 03
The beating heart of this robot is Figure AI's proprietary AI system called "Helix." Helix is an advanced Vision-Language-Action (VLA) model that allows the robot to:
- Perceive its environment: Using an array of advanced cameras and sensors, it analyzes the surrounding world in 3D and at high speed.
- Understand human language: It processes spoken commands and responds to them.
- Learn and act: By observing humans and through trial and error, it learns new tasks such as folding laundry, washing dishes, and operating a washing machine.
Key Features That Set Figure 03 Apart
- Designed for the Home: Unlike many industrial robots, Figure 03 is designed with a focus on safety and human interaction. Its body is covered in soft weaves and protective foam to be safe in a home environment. It is also 9% lighter and less bulky than its predecessor, allowing it to move easily in domestic spaces.
- Exceptionally Sensitive Hands: One of Figure 03's most standout features is its hands. Each finger is equipped with tactile sensors capable of detecting pressure equivalent to the weight of a paperclip (about 3 grams). This high sensitivity allows the robot to handle fragile objects with precision and without causing damage.
- Wireless Charging: The robot doesn't need to be plugged in to charge; it can simply stand on a wireless charging pad.
- Mass Production Ready: Figure 03 was designed for mass production from the start. The company has established its own dedicated factory, named "BotQ," which can produce up to 12,000 robots per year.
A Future Alongside Figure 03
Released videos showcase Figure 03's impressive capabilities in performing everyday tasks like tidying a table, working at a hotel reception, and even playing with a dog. Although an exact date for public release hasn't been set, the company's CEO, Brett Adcock, has expressed hope that the robot will be in select homes next year.

Figure 03 is not just another robot; it's a complete platform. By combining advanced AI, safe design, and mass-production capability, it could become the cornerstone for integrating versatile humanoid robots into our daily lives.
In our next post, we will compare the two titans of this arena—Tesla's Optimus and Figure 03—to see what future each one is charting for robotics.
